Question #2:

Advice on Careers for Business Management?

Hey, I am currently a freshmen at a community college. I will be transferring to UC Santa Cruz in the Fall of '11. I have a transfer admissions agreement with them, where I will pursue my goal and major in Business Management.

My question is, I am currently undecided on a career. I know it may be a bit early, but I always want to look ahead.

I've loved the game of basketball forever, particularly the NBA, and would love to work for the business side of the Association. Marketing, advertising, dealing with salaries, etc. I know a lot about the salaries and numbers part of the NBA, and have always been interested in those type of areas.

With that said, my question is, what would you recommend as a potential career in the Business Management field - preferably in the field of sports?

I was thinking about getting an internship with the Developmental League of the NBA.

Any advice and input would be much appreciated. Please and thank you!

Question #3:

Overqualified? Bad economy? What to do!?

My wife and I have been searching nationally now, and it's getting crazy. I work in intercollegiate athletics, have interned at the my universities basketball team, marketing department, intramaural sports department, and have experience throughout most athletic department skillsets. I am specifically looking for a jof working in intercollegiate sports, pro-sports, or education. I have also worked abroad as an English instructor in China, taught as an adjunct professor at my university, and have a wealth of volunteer work ranging from being a youth pastor to working as a P.E. Coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club.

But I can't even get a call back. I am literally in the black hole of job hunting, and I really don't see taking on another internship or getting even more education as an option, being that I already have two degrees (B.A. in Sports MGT. and MKT, M.S. in Sports Administration), and I'm 29. What gives, am I being stingy, not looking hard enough, or is it just an "economy" thing? I want to provide for my wife so we can start a family, but it's just not possible right now.

Any advice?

Question #4:

Question #6:

Does this makes sense basketball fans?

The Lakers with Kobe loses 3 straight game to the weaker Eastern conference teams especially to the Heat who is currently sitting at the 8th spot and then to the Bobcat that is sitting at the 9th spot but without Kobe they beat 4 of the tougher Western teams with the exception of Golden State but they beat Portland in Portland, They ended the Utah 9 game winning streak in Utah, They beat the Spurs and all of these teams except GS are playoff seated teams. They also had the chance to beat Boston.

Question #7:

5 yr old league in need of two managers (baseball)?

This league is a very active sports league (football, basketball, baseball); however, in baseball we have trouble getting active managers. Keep in mind that a spot in our league does not guarantee a spot in football and basketball since there's more managers than available spots, but joining our baseball league is a new experience that you probably haven't tried before (a full set of active managers).

I will offer a spot to those who prove they're active (believe me, I can tell). I will ask you for your yahoo fantasy sports profile and go from there. If you're interested, drop off your email here and I will contact.

Thanks

Question #13:

So if Mormon temple garments offer spiritual protection, why is it OK to take them off during basketball?

From the Initiatory:

"Inasmuch as you do not defile it, but are true and faithful to your covenants, it [i.e., the garment] will be a shield and a protection to you against the power of the destroyer until you have finished your work on the earth."

Many Mormons deny (with good reason) that the special underwear they receive as part of the temple endowment provides them with any physical protection. They insist the protection is spiritual. But then why is it OK to take the garment off for athletics?

I had to quit the basketball team because i couldnt breathe right, and i was having intense chest pain. I went to the doctors, got a stress test, and they said it was muscular skeletal i think. I'll go out with my brother to the mall ( hes 20 ) and when some girl my age walks by me with all designer clothes and a group of friends, i get uncomforable and kind of look to the side or do something stupid.
